Why we built this

The numbers are stark. In the UK alone, an estimated 47% of passengers who are owed compensation never claim it. That adds up to around £80 million left unclaimed every year, money that belongs to passengers, not operators.

Across Europe, the picture is even more fragmented. Each country has its own operators, its own claim portals, and its own interpretation of EU Regulation 2021/782. A passenger delayed on a cross-border journey might not know which operator to contact, which form to fill in, or which rules apply.

There is no dominant pan-European service doing this for trains the way flight compensation services do for air travel. We're building that service.

What we cover

TrainOwed handles claims across 15+ operators in the EU and UK, including major national rail networks and cross-border services.

• EU passengers — covered under EU Regulation 2021/782, which entitles you to 25% of your ticket price for delays of 60 minutes and 50% for delays of 120 minutes or more.
• UK passengers — covered under Delay Repay schemes, with compensation starting from 15 or 30 minutes depending on the operator.

How we work

1. Check your journey. Enter your route and delay details. We check eligibility instantly.
2. Submit your claim. We file on your behalf, using the correct process for your operator.
3. We chase the operator. If they're slow to respond, we follow up. You don't have to do anything.
4. You get paid. Compensation lands in your account. We take a 25% fee only if we win.

No win, no fee. If your claim fails, you pay nothing.
