Sorularınız, Doğrudan Yanıtlar
My RRX RE1 train through Essen was badly delayed. Can I claim?
Yes. The RRX lines (RE1, RE6, RE11) operated by National Express NRW are covered by EU Regulation 2021/782 for journeys over 75 km. If your delay at the final destination was 60 minutes or more, you are entitled to 25% of your ticket price back (or 50% for 120+ minutes).
Why does Essen get so many cascade delays?
Essen sits at the heart of the Ruhr region, where multiple RRX lines, DB long-distance trains, S-Bahn services, and freight trains all share a dense and heavily used network. A delay on one line quickly affects others, and the lack of slack in the schedule makes recovery slow.
I was on an IC from Essen to Frankfurt that left 40 minutes late and arrived 70 minutes late. What can I claim?
The 70-minute delay at Frankfurt means you qualify for the 60-119 minute bracket. You can claim 25% of what you paid for the ticket.
Can I claim if I was delayed on the S-Bahn into Essen from a connecting train?
S-Bahn delays on their own generally do not qualify because they are typically urban services under 75 km. But if an S-Bahn delay caused you to miss a connecting mainline train, and your total delay at the final destination was 60+ minutes on a through ticket, that chain of delay can still qualify.
I have already accepted a meal voucher from DB. Can I still claim monetary compensation?
Accepting a meal voucher does not waive your right to monetary compensation. These are separate entitlements. Meal and accommodation assistance during a delay is one right; delay compensation is another. You can still file for the cash payment.
