Train Delay Rates by Station

How often trains arrive late at major European stations. High station delay rates indicate infrastructure or operational bottlenecks affecting multiple operators.

Sources: national regulators (ORR, BNetzA, RFI, Trafikanalys). Figures represent delayed arrivals as a percentage of total arrivals.

Compensation Claim Rates by Country

Despite legal entitlements, most eligible passengers never file a claim. These estimates are based on operator payout data compared with eligible passenger volumes.

Methodology & Sources

On-time performance data is sourced from operator annual reports, national rail regulators (ORR, BNetzA, ART, SNCF Group, Transportstyrelsen), and the European Court of Auditors. Where operator-reported and regulator figures differ, the more conservative figure is used. Claim rates are estimates derived from operator payout data versus estimated eligible passenger volumes; actual rates may be higher or lower. Passenger volume figures are from Eurostat Rail Transport Statistics 2023.
